Tuesday, May 13 Calling all Fall 2007 Mystery Class members. We’re having a reunion so everyone can see how each mystery quilt turned out. BASIC QUILTMAKING- WAFFLE TIME Learn the basics of quilting- from rotary cutting to 1/4” piecing to quilting and to binding. We’ll make an 18” x 18” table topper as you learn the skill that will allow you to make all kinds of quilted projects. Limited number of kits available. |

PATCHED STARS This quilt looks complicated, but when you break down the blocks, it’s quite easy and fun to make- especially when you can use up all the scraps from your stash. PHOTO TRANSFER TECHNIQUES This popular class is offered to you in lecture style. It is designed for you to incorporate photos, mementos, 3-D images, and other art into your quilts. Leave class with a working knowledge of these techniques: iron-on transfer, printing on fabric sheets, making your own fabric sheets, and various scanning options. You will also receive helpful references to get you started on this new adventure with endless possibilities! |

VOICES OF THE PAST- BETSY ROSS WORKSHOP This fun setting for a Betsy Ross Sampler will become one of your favorites as you can substitute any 6” or 12” block while still using the same measurements. A large variety of fabric was used in piecing this quilt. We will offer a starter pack of some of our newest patriotic and civil war fabric to get you started. Additionally, some techniques for making the flags and flying geese for the stars will be demonstrated. 2008 is a great year for a patriotic quilt you will love for years. RAILS AND SQUARES You will love the way “Rails and Squares” goes together. A great scallop tool will help you conquer the scalloped border and will take all the mystery out of measuring for scallops. SPLIT DECISION One Jelly Roll or a lot of 2 1/2” strips will get you started on this ìSplit Decision” quilt. A great new ruler designed for cutting 2 1/2” strips is available and will speed up your cutting. Half of your fabric should be light and half dark to make this quilt really pop! Rotary experience. FANCY STITCHIN’ WORKSHOP If you don’t already have a machine that also embroiders, this 29” square quilt may convince you to get one! If you do have one, come learn this fun technique from Smith Street Designs. All these gorgeous stitches are programmed, so all you have to worry about is which thread to use next! Designs are 5 1/2” square and are available in art, dst, exp, hus, jef, pcs, pes, shv, and xxx. You must be able to transfer designs from a cd to your machine. Rotary experience. Machine pieced. FLEA MARKET BAG The Flea Market Bag is designed to carry lots of goodies. The strap is long so it can go across your chest for comfort and weight distribution. The zippered inside pocket is perfect for valuables and money. No quilting is involved in this project. Pick two fabrics (outside and lining/outer pocket) and you are ready to sew. LUCKY STARS Once again, Lucky Stars makes it on to our class schedule. This is a great quilt to make as your ìnext” quilt. This design by Terry Atkinson with it’s floating stars looks harder than it is. If you have an embroidery machine, you could embroider the center of the stars ahead of time and make your star points and lattice in class! TUMBLING BLOCK MOSAIC English Paper Piecing is a great take-a-along project. Yes, all those pieces are sewn by hand! You can work on it in the car, at the doctor’s office, in front of the TV or anywhere you have a few minutes of downtime. We’ll work on two shapes in class- diamonds and hexagons. GLORY BOUND Glory Bound is a 64” square vintage inspired quilt. It’s a perfect scrap quilt and using lots of fabrics makes it even prettier. We’ll use two sizes of triangle paper to speed up the piecing and eliminate bias seams. The red, white, and blue quilt made from the kit just begs to be used every 4th of July and more! T-SHIRT QUILT
You will be glad that you saved all those old t-shirts when you see what a great quilt you can turn them into! Preserve precious memories or commemorate an event. We will make a quilt (the size is up to you) using your t-shirts (the more they’ve been washed the better). The setting fabrics can reflect the theme of the t-shirts, favorite colors, school colors, or can just be random. You can make a great quilt suitable for all ages, anniversaries, graduations, college sorority and fraternity members, sports fans, motorcyclists, marathoners, athletes, coaches, or life-long concert fanatics! Ideas will be shared on how to use photos, patches, mesh jerseys, and hats in your quilt. Choose one of four different settings. Rotary experience. Machine pieced. Top only. |

SUNSET "Sunset” is a splash of color and sharp lines. We’ll use partial seams to make the blocks. If you’ve never tried partial seams you’re in for a treat! They work like magic and are easy too. EASY AS PIE - FABULOUS! Easy as Pie is one of our favorite classes! How can it not be with food, sewing, laughter, door prizes and lots of fun! This quilt from 4th and 6th Design is created by sewing strips of fabric together to form a strata. Once your strata are sewn, cut out squares on point. Arrange your blocks however you choose and sew back together in rows and you are done. No borders to sew! Choose one of five different sizes. STARS AT NIGHT Thursdays, August 7, 14, & 21 You’ll be seeing stars when you get these blocks together! Learn to make flying geese and half-square triangles accurately plus get tips to making better sashing and border strips. These basic 8-point stars are gorgeous in the featured fabric- an 1800’s reproduction collection. But wouldn’t it be fun to make in 30’s, batiks, or brights? Rotary experience. Machine pieced. HUGS AND KISSES X’s and O’s made out of just the right baby fabrics and then surrounded by great borders and partial scallops make ìHugs and Kisses” just too cute. Or use teenage fabrics and you’ll have a super throw for your favorite teen. We’ll use a wonderful tool for measuring the scalloped border and go step-by-step for attaching the binding. MILKY WAY Sawtooth Stars are among the most popular of all blocks. This 82” x 96” fat quarter friendly quilt features two sizes of stars glittering across the quilt, made extra accurate with the use of Thangles. Our sample features 30”s reproduction prints, but wouldn’t it look great with batiks or Civil War prints or patriotic prints or just about any other theme? KWIK SCRAPPY LOG CABIN This fun quilt uses a stack and cut technique that speeds up your prep time. After cutting your fabric, you shuffle it and then piece the blocks.
