Stashbuster Ruler from Creative Grids

Have you noticed all the new books and patterns available now that use 5” charm squares, 2 1/2” strips or both? Now organizing your stash to use charm squares and strips just got easier!

The Stashbuster ruler is 5” wide with a line down the middle, marking it into two 2 1/2” strips. Use it to cut 5” strips to sub-cut into squares or to cut one or two 2 1/2” strips. Once you’ve cut 5” strips, turn the ruler and it’s marked off in 5” segments to easily cut charm squares.

As an added bonus, one end is a "square it up” square. Place two squares right sides together, draw a line diagonally from corner to corner, and then stitch 1/4” on each side of the line. Cut the pieces apart on the drawn line, open and- Voila! You have two half-square triangles. Use the ruler to square them up so you’ll have two perfect squares 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” raw edge to raw edge with a perfect diagonal seam.

Now I know, and you know, that these cuts can be made with any 6” x 24” ruler. The beauty is in the simplicity. There aren’t lines every 1/8” to confuse you. It just makes life easier! And isn’t this a great way to organize all those leftover pieces of fabric that you just didn’t know what to do with? Cut charms and strips and you’ll be organized and ready when you see that perfect pattern1 Stop by for a demo.
