What is a BLOG?
The Story of the Blog The title sounds like it could be a classic horror movie, but it is far from horrible. The “Blog” is actually derived from web log, which kind of explains what it is. The blog has become a popular form of communication on the internet. A blog belongs to an individual, company, or organization and can function as a personal online diary or provide commentary or news on a particular subject. A typical blog contains text, images, and links to other blogs and websites. The blogger, or person writing the blog, can publish or post thoughts, opinions, announcements, and just about anything that can be entered from a keyboard. The blog posts can be made as frequently as the writer desires. Readers can leave comments and responses. Internet services dedicated to blog sites have developed, and often a basic blog is easily set up and is free of charge through companies like TypePad, BlogSpot, and WordpPress. Personal blogs might never even be read by someone else, but can be a way to communicate and reflect on life. Bloggers post about their day or opinions. If you are interested in finding out more about blogs, it is easy to search on google.com. Just type in “gardening blog”, “fishing blog”, “cooking blog” or whatever your heart desires. Needless to say, there are a lot of blogs related to sewing and quilting. I have listed a few here, but must warn you! Each site has a list of favorite blog sites, and you can go from one to the next to the next for as long as you like. I have found many good tips, videos on projects, patterns, recipes, etc., in a short time, but it can easily suck up many minutes! www.Grandrevivaldesign.typepad.com
Some websites have blogs for their
own staff as well as the opportunity for readers like you and me to open up your
own blog. So venture out into the blogosphere, you never know what you will find around the next mouse click! Pam’s blog is www.emmalinedesign.blogspot.com if you would like to check it out! | |
